We bought a whole set of this french provincial bedroom furniture. I love french provincial but felt the extra mouldings on the front was just a little too much. I thought the feet and wood applique and knobs were just the right amount of "french provincial". So I experimented and the trim popped right off.

This was a beautiful french provincial dresser that I put a lot of detail into.  I had a customer who loved the look and detail of the piece itself but wanted a very bold blue for a lake house.  She liked anything but floral and loved the blue and yellow combination.
